How It Works
What Happens Between Your Message and Her Reply

The character definition
Before she's a personality, she's a written description: a name, a background, a way of speaking, things she cares about. This layer stops her sliding into generic assistant mode.

Context, then memory
Your recent messages are read together with a stored summary of older ones. That's why the same character can feel warm at midnight and clipped the next morning.
The context window
The amount of recent conversation the character can see at once. Anything outside it survives only if it was summarised into memory — the biggest limit on how coherent a long thread stays.
Why continuity is the hard part
One warm sentence is easy. One that agrees with forty earlier sessions is not. Memory is compressed to fit the window, and compression drops the specific detail you cared about most.

What “remembering” realistically means

Why it degrades over time
Memory gets less reliable as a conversation gets longer, not more. Long threads, topic changes and weeks of silence push older material out of the window. Shorter, more focused sessions usually hold up better than one endless thread.

What to check before you trust it with something personal
- What gets stored — whether messages are kept, summarised or discarded, and whether memory is opt-in.
- How long it survives — whether she remembers you after a month away, or resets when a subscription lapses.
- Who can read it — whether conversations are reviewed by humans, used for training, or visible to others.
- How to clear it — whether you can delete a single memory, wipe a character, or remove your account.

Qualifiers, false starts, a slower warm-up. The payoff is a character whose guard comes down gradually.
